The first has been open for a year now, while the second, situated near Oventic, is in the process of construction. The next one is planned for Chenalho (near Acteal).

The indigenous peoples living there have a terrible time – the project is designed to dissociate them from their land, their culture and their identity. The intention is to isolate them from their surroundings and put an end to any alternative social projects – a form of social control, of government plunder – all part of Plan Mesoamerica.

Nuevo juan de Grijalva was built following extensive damage in the torrential storms in late 2007, but the new ‘city’ is now collapsing – streets, houses, the population cannot make a living and a number have already returned to their old homes.
